Grab a seat or find something to lean on Sivakarthikeyan fans because the moment you’ve all been eagerly waiting for has finally arrived. On the occasion of the Tamil star’s 40th birthday on Monday, renowned filmmaker AR Murugadoss unveiled a special teaser of their upcoming film, sparking great excitement among fans thanks to its impressive visuals and scale.
Titled Madharasi, the 44-second teaser highlights that the film will seamlessly blend all commercial elements and even more, while also ensuring the signature Murugadoss experience, all with Sivakarthikeyan at its centre. Even as the title glimpse video opens with a series of aerial and long shots, showcasing a car godown and a line of container trucks moving in succession, it soon cuts to a massive crash in which a truck, seemingly intentionally, rams into a group of cars, sending them flying. The teaser then quickly introduces Sivakarthikeyan’s character, revealing that he’s not a random nobody but someone to be feared, as he gears up to take on a group of armed men single-handedly.
Amid big explosions and high-octane action sequences, we are also introduced to the characters played by Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal and Biju Menon, all integral pieces in this sprawling, high-stakes narrative. Set against the outline map of South India, appears the title Madharasi, a term used both as a demonym and a regional slur for people from the region. Written and directed by Murugadoss, the film’s music is composed by Anirudh.
The makers also released the second look of Madharasi, featuring five different reactions of Sivakarthikeyan. Incidentally, it is speculated that Sivakarthikeyan plays a character with a distinct behavioural trait, and it would be interesting if this five-reaction image is a reflection of that idea.
