Ace director Selvaraghavan, known from films Kadhal Kondein and Mayakkam Yenna, has dispelled rumors regarding his involvement in the scriptwriting process of his brother Dhanush’s much-anticipated 50th project, Raayan. Speculations were rife that Selvaraghavan, who directed Dhanush’s hit films like Mayakkan Yenna and cult-classic Pudhupettai, might have contributed to the script of Raayan. However, Selvaraghavan has firmly stated that the movie is solely Dhanush’s vision.

In a recent statement on social media platform X, Selvaraghavan clarified his role in the film, and wrote, “Friends, heard reports that I have written the script for D50 Raayan. I clarify that I have NOTHING to do with Raayan’s script or scripting process. It’s purely @dhanushkraja’s dream script and now he has made it into his own film. I am merely an actor in this project.” He further expressed his eagerness to witness Raayan on the big screen, commending his brother’s dedication and hard work.

Raayan marks Dhanush’s 50th film and his second directorial venture following Pa Paandi in 2017. The film also features Sundeep Kishan and Kalidas Jayaram in pivotal roles. Recently, the makers unveiled the title and released the first look of the movie, depicting Dhanush standing in front of what appears to be a food truck. In the poster, Dhanush is sporting a close-cut hairstyle, a thick mustache, and a bloodied apron. Raayan is slated to release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

Whenever Dhanush and Selvaraghavan have teamed up, it has been a treat for their fans, except for their last collaboration, Naane Varuvean, which turned out to be a damp squib. Now, the tables have turned as Dhanush is directing his brother, and it has to be seen if the student becomes the master.
