In the midst of swirling rumours regarding actor SJ Suryah playing a significant role in Dhanush’s 50th film, the Vaathi actor himself recently took to Twitter to convey his best wishes to Suryah for his upcoming movie Bommai, directed by Radha Mohan.

Ahead of Bommai’s impending release on June 16, Suryah recently tweeted a sneak peek giving a glimpse of what the film’s world would look like.

Quote tweeting SJ Suryah’s post, Dhanush wrote: “Good luck sir. I’m sure you would have rocked it.”

As per reports, D50 is likely to mark Dhanush’s return as a director after Pa Paandi (2017). Aparna Balamurali, Dushara Vijayan, Kalidas Jayaram and Sundeep Kishan might also feature in the film, alongside Dhanush.

The 179-second sneak peek video of Boomai features only SJ Suryah, seated across from a police officer in an interrogation room as he shares his story. As the video unfolds, Suryah’s character passionately reveals the deep significance of Nandini in his life, confessing the lingering emotional hold she has on him, even though she went missing some time ago. He proceeds to elaborate on the circumstances that led to him losing Nandini.

The three-minute video brings Suryah’s acting talent to the forefront, giving viewers a tantalising preview of what they can expect from the film.

Despite having wrapped up the filming of Bommai in 2020, the makers faced a delay in its release due to the onset of Covid. Although the movie’s trailer was unveiled last June, it took the crew an additional year to get the film ready for its theatrical debut. Earlier this month, they also released a second trailer of the movie, to keep the buzz alive.

Both the trailers show Suryah’s character Raju, a working-class man, to be far removed from reality, inhabiting a world of pure absurdity that no one around him could grasp. It is shown that he has a fascination with mannequins at dress shops.

“We all have a fantasy world, where we live the way we want. We know the limits that come with it. But, Raju doesn’t. He’s crossed those limits,” a psychiatrist says as he narrates Raju’s condition.

All the promos underline that the flick is going to be a psychological action thriller. While Bommai’s songs have been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Richard M Nathan has handled its cinematography.
