A photo from the 1980s featuring veteran actor Sathyaraj and a young Fahadh Faasil has gone viral on the internet. The picture, shared by MUBI India’s official X page, highlights the link between the two through Fahadh’s father, the renowned filmmaker Fazil.
For the uninitiated, who are wondering about the connection between Fahadh and Sathyaraj, the Tamil star has acted in the films of Fazil, a renowned Malayalam director. Fazil, though he started his career in Malayalam, has made blockbusters in both Malayalam and Tamil. Among many such Tamil hits is En Bommakutty Ammavuku and Poovizhi Vasalile had Sathyaraj in the lead role.
The picture likely captures a moment from the sets of one of these two blockbuster Tamil films En Bommakutty Ammavuku or Poovizhi Vasalile. Fans were quick to note the eyes of Fahadh Faasil in the old picture, which are regarded as his important attribute in his acting.
While crossovers and collaborations between industries have become the talk of the town, the photo gives a glimpse into the legacy of this phenomenon. Only recently, Fahadh Faasil said in an interview with Film Companion, that his family has been making movies for four decades. While talking about the level of importance money plays in his career, he said, “I come from a family which has been making cinema for 40 years. I know how unstable the business is. I can manage the financial instability, but I am worried about the instability as an individual. I have seen people change. I wish to stay stable regardless of my films doing well or badly. I came to do two films and go back. Everything else is a bonus.”
Fahadh Faasil, known for his recent success in Aavesham, is currently busy with three upcoming projects: Pushpa: The Rule, Maareesan, and Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan. Meanwhile, Sathyaraj, last seen in Singapore Saloon, is anticipating the release of Thozhar CheGuevara, details of which are yet to be revealed.
