Dude trailer: The trailer of Pradeep Ranganathan’s Diwali release, Dude, was unveiled on Thursday. Staying true to the formula that defined his previous blockbusters Love Today and Dragon, Pradeep appears to once again portray a down-on-his-luck protagonist who’s put through the wringer in his pursuit of love, adventure, and success in Dude.
The film follows the lives of two event organisers who make a living by setting up surprise parties on commission for their clients. Pradeep’s character, Agan, appears to be developing feelings for his uncle’s daughter, Kural, played by Mamitha Baiju. The trailer offers a glimpse into his attempts to find love and overcome his insecurities, as a host of unexpected characters enter his life along the way.
The trailer of Dude promises a fun coming-of-age drama in the vein of Pradeep Ranganathan’s earlier films, primarily targeting a younger audience. The film is written and directed by debutant Keerthiswaran and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. It features music composed by Sai Abhyankar, marking his follow-up to the recently released Balti.
Keerthiswaran recently shared that he wrote Due with Rajinikanth in Mind. The director said in a statement, “When I began writing the story, I imagined how Rajinikanth sir would have played this role if he were 30 years old. I wrote it keeping that image in mind. Pradeep fit the character perfectly, and he instantly liked the story.”
“The story is not just about love—there’s also a mass element, which audiences will understand when they watch the film. Having my debut film release for Diwali truly feels like a dream come true,” he added.
Dude, also starring Mamitha Baiju, Sarath Kumar, Hridhu Haroon, Rohini, Aishwarya Sharma, and Dravid Selvam, is set to hit theatres on October 17, alongside Dhruv Vikram’s Bison and Harish Kalyan’s Diesel.
