Dragon trailer: Revolving around the most “irresponsible, atrocious, reckless and useless boy” from the fictional AGS College of Engineering’s 2018 batch, director Ashwath Marimuthu’s Dragon is set for its theatrical release, promising a mix of all the essential commercial ingredients. The recently unveiled 138-second trailer hints at a wild ride, centring on a young man whose reckless behaviour turns his life upside down.

While the promo begins by showing what led him to become a “bad boy”, it soon reveals just how far he has fallen. Ragavan (Pradeep Ranganathan) is a troublemaker — constantly getting into fights, causing chaos and holding a record-breaking 48 backlogged papers in engineering. While he wears these as badges of honour, reality soon hits and he begins to understand that his antics might have made him in/famous in college, but in the real world, they amount to nothing. Despite all these, his loving parents remain his biggest support, willing to do anything to help him succeed.

Once even his girlfriend bluntly tells him that while he might make a good lover, he will never be a good life partner because he is a “failure”. Ragavan is forced to confront the harsh truth that he has become little more than a joke, a walking example of what not to be. Determined to turn his life around, he sets out on a journey to prove himself and the rest of the trailer offers glimpses of his journey in this direction.

Written and directed by Ashwath Marimuthu — known for helming Oh My Kadavule (2020) and its Telugu remake Ori Devuda (2022) — Dragon also stars Anupama Parameswaran, Kayadu Lohar, George Maryan, KS Ravikumar, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Mysskin in key roles. Produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh and Kalpathi S Suresh under AGS Entertainment (P) Ltd, the film features music by Leon James, cinematography by Niketh Bommi and editing by Pradeep E Ragav. Dragon will hit the screens on February 21.
