Kaithi was a major turning point in the way action films were made and mounted in Tamil cinema. The Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed one-night thriller is getting a Malaysian adaptation directed by Kroll Azzy. The team behind the Malay language version put out the very first teaser of the film on their YouTube channel. The production house behind Kaithi, Dream Warrior Pictures, which sold the remake rights to the Karthi starrer, put out the teaser on their official YouTube channel. The short teaser offers us a glimpse into the world of Banduan, which looks like a faithful adaptation that will match the gritty, dark tone of the original.

Dream Warrior pictures posted the teaser on their Twitter handle with the caption, “Every story holds a secret. And this secret… will change everything.” The remake is being bankrolled by Number Twenty One Media. The Malay version also has a musical score by Sam CS, who also composed the original score for Kaithi. Litia Ramachandran will also be in charge of composing for the new version. The star cast for Banduan includes Aaron Aziz, Rosyam Nor, Afdin Shauki, and Fadhli Masoot, among others.

Kaithi, which dealt with the frenzy-like odyssey of a recently released convict, who is caught between an honorable cop and a dangerous drug mafia in his efforts to see his estranged daughter living in an orphanage, all in the course of the night. The teaser has the famous images of the hero eating biryani and the signature punching motion of the hero, whose hands emerge out of a deck of men fighting him. The film will be released in Malaysia and the rest of the world on November 6 this year.
