Art director Milan Fernandez passed away on October 15 after suffering a cardiac arrest in Azerbaijan. According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, Milan complained about chest pain on Sunday morning. On the way to the hospital, Milan passed away. He was shooting with Ajith Kumar for his upcoming film Vidaamuyarchi. The movie is directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Lyca Productions. The makers also confirmed Milan’s death via social media. Milan was in his 50s and is survived by his wife and son.
Milan started working in the Tamil film industry in 1999. He initially collaborated with the art director Sabu Cyril on various films before becoming a solo art director. Milan is known for films like Billa, Veluyantham, Vedalam, and Oram Po among others.
Actors across the industry mourned the loss. Actor Prem Kumar wrote, “Omg shocking Art director #Milan sir no more. Very calm person, I knew him in #Thunivu. Too soon to go… my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, it happened in #Azerbaijan.” Jayam Ravi also expressed grief and wrote, “Shocked to hear about the passing away of Art Director #Milan. My heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.”
Milan even tried his hand in Malayalam cinema with the comedy film Padmasree Bharat Saroj Kumar in 2012. His last film was with director Siva’s upcoming action-packed Tamil movie, Kanguva, featuring stars like Suriya, Disha Patani, Bobby Deol, Yogi Babu, and others. This film is set to hit theaters in 2024.
