Simran, still riding high on the success of her recent Tamil film Tourist Family, recently spoke about Rajinikanth’s Coolie at an event. The actor, who previously shared screen space with the superstar in Karthik Subbaraj’s Petta, shared her take on Lokesh Kanagaraj’s latest directorial venture. The film received mixed reviews but is eyeing Rs 500 crore at the worldwide box office.
Simran said, “I’m a big Rajini sir fan, and so I watched the film. I absolutely loved it. I always watch every single Rajini sir film, and irrespective of how it is to others, it is a hit to me. I think only if the story’s content is good will everybody like it. But Rajini sir gave his best, nonetheless.”
Simran rarely shares her opinions on films publicly, but her recent praise for her favorite star Rajinikanth has been making waves on social media.
Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, bankrolled by Sun Pictures and featuring an ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Rachita Ram, and Shruti Haasan, hit screens on August 14 to mixed reviews. Many critics pointed out writing inconsistencies as one of the film’s major shortcomings. However, despite the divided response, the Rajinikanth starrer has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in the domestic market within just six days of its release, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. With a worldwide collection close to Rs 500 crore, Coolie has also emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year.

On the work front, Simran will next be seen in the upcoming horror-fantasy film The Last One, produced by her husband, Deepak Bagga. The film will release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Simran also has the much-delayed Gautham Vasudev Menon directorial, Dhruva Natchathiram, in her kitty.
