Ace trailer: How did Kannan (Vijay Sethupathi) get the nickname “Bold”? He has a backstory for it; actually, several. The story keeps changing depending on whom he’s telling it to and what his motive for connecting with them is. To a woman (Divya Pillai) he has just met in Malaysia, he claims he earned the sobriquet because of his boldness in speaking out against injustice. To Yogi Babu’s character, he insists the nickname is actually “Bolt” and explains it comes from his habit of stealing bolts from vehicles. Meanwhile, to Rukmini Vasanth’s character, whom he’s romantically interested in, he describes himself as the electric bolt that strikes between thunder and lightning.

Soon, it is revealed that he has arrived in Malaysia with a particular motive and that he is a ‘man with a plan’. The remainder of the trailer of director Arumugakumar’s Ace offers more glimpses into the vast world Kannan has entered, and it’s ruled by powerful crime syndicates that are ready to do anything for their gain. The 181-second promo also promises a gripping ride, packed with all the ingredients of a complete entertainer.
