Producer Rajan Shahi who has made shows like Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai and the ongoing Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlaata Hai for Star Plus, will be producing another show for the channel. The show is about a Mumbai girl, and traces her journey and struggle to establish her identity. Shahi is on the look-out for an actor to essay the role of the protagonist. Talking about it, Shahi says, “My production house is known for launching fresh faces who have become popular. Once again, I’m going to introduce a fresh face with this show. So far 800 girls have already auditioned for the part, but I haven’t found the right face.”
The producer believes this show will be like moving away from what he is known for. “Though I’m very proud of my shows. I feel my work has started looking similar and it’s time I re-invent myself. I’ve made shows on families, traditions, but I’ve never made a show dealing with a girl in search of her identity or on a Mumbai girl who truly personifies what Mumbai stands for—that is independence and confidence. I want to break the stereotypes, and change the way I’ve functioned so far,” adds Shahi. Interestingly, the script of the show will be worked on keeping in mind, the girl’s personality, that the producer finally casts for the role. As far as the title is concerned, it’s still being kept under wraps. It can be expected to go on floors in a month or two.

While, things have yet to be finalised, in all probability, Singh’s show may replace Sunil Grover’s, Mad In India, which has a 13-week contract with Star Plus. Interestingly, according to a source, the channel is also considering to rope in Sunny Deol. Now, that would be an interesting combo!
