Actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty grabbed national consciousness with his National award-winning performance in the pan-Indian blockbuster Kantara. Backed by Hombale Films, Kantara became an unprecedented success from Kannada cinema, and turned Rishab into a household name across the country. While Rishab won the Best Actor award at the 70th National Awards, the film took home the prize for Best Popular Film providing Wholesome Entertainment. Soon after the success of Kantara, Rishab trained all his focus on the second part, which is said to be a prequel to the first film. Now, the makers have announced that Kantara 2, which is titled Kantara – A Legend will hit the screens on October 2, 2025 on the occasion of Dussehra.

Kantara 2 is expected to be released in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali, and English. While the film is billed to be a prequel to the happenings in Kantara, details about the central plot haven’t been divulged. Written and directed by Rishab, the makers remain tight-lipped about the cast and crew of the film.

Apart from Kantara 2, Rishab is also attached to star in Prashanth Varma’s ambitious project, Jai Hanuman. This film marks the second entry in the Prashanth Varma Cinematic Universe after the 2024 blockbuster film, Hanu-Man, headlined by Teja Sajja.
Hombale Films have also been in the news for signing a 3-film deal with Prabhas, which includes Prashanth Neel’s Salaar 2.
