Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Day 20: Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 continues to hold its ground at the box office, showing remarkable consistency even as it moves into its third week in theatres, still earning in double digits. On Day 20 (Tuesday), the film raked in Rs 12 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, taking its total domestic collection to a massive Rs 547.15 crore. Interestingly, Tuesday’s collection slightly surpassed Monday’s earnings of Rs 11.65 crore, likely due to the boost from Diwali festivities and the associated holiday. This also puts Kantara Chapter 1 Rs 54 crore away from emerging as the highest earning film of 2025, a record that belongs to Vicky Kaushal -starrer Chhaava(Rs 601 crore) at present.
In terms of occupancy, the Kannada version recorded a solid 49.54% overall occupancy on Day 20. Morning shows started at 23.69%, with a significant rise in the afternoon to 63.11%. The film maintained strong numbers into the evening (57.34%) and night shows (54.01%). The film has also performed well in its dubbed versions across other languages. The Hindi version recorded a strong occupancy rate of 54.57%, while the Tamil version saw an even higher figure at 77.41%. Telugu audiences showed moderate interest with a 26.51% occupancy rate. The Malayalam version had the lowest occupancy at 11.49%, though this can largely be attributed to the limited number of screenings which would have impacted its overall reach.
A major portion of the film’s earnings has come from the Hindi-dubbed version, which has now crossed Rs 180 crore. This puts it ahead of several major releases, including Raid 2 (Rs 173.05 crore). It is also poised to surpass Housefull 5, which collected Rs 183.3 crore domestically. On a broader scale, Kantara: Chapter 1 has already outpaced the worldwide collections of notable 2025 releases such as Coolie (Rs 518 crore), War 2 (Rs 364.35 crore), and the surprise hit Saiyaara (Rs 329.2 crore).
From its overall domestic earnings, the film’s Kannada version has contributed over Rs 170 crore. The dubbed versions have also played a vital role in its pan-India success, with the Telugu version adding around Rs 85 crore, Tamil around Rs 53 crore, and Malayalam around Rs 40 crore. Thus, compared to the original Kantara (2022), which was largely driven by its Kannada audience, Kantara: Chapter 1 has achieved wider reach, and is a true blue pan India success.
However, with the release of the much-anticipated Hindi film Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, competition is heating up. Thamma, which released yesterday, reportedly earned Rs 24 crore on its opening day, nearly double of Kantara: Chapter 1’s Day 20 earnings. It remains to be seen how both films will perform in the coming days.
