Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 has joined the league of pan-India blockbusters like Baahubali, KGF, RRR, and Pushpa as it continues to mint money at the box office. Over its second weekend, the film witnessed a decent jump in its earnings, collecting Rs 39.77 crore on Sunday and bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 438.42 crore. Globally, the film has crossed Rs 500 crore mark.
Kantara Chapter 1 has completed 11 days in theatres since its release on October 2. Within the first eight days, the film amassed Rs 337.4 crore, with a substantial portion of the revenue coming from the Hindi version — on par with the Kannada original. The film crossed the Rs 100 crore net mark in both Kannada and Hindi versions, while the Telugu version earned Rs 63.55 crore, the Tamil version brought in over Rs 30 crore, and the Malayalam version minted Rs 26.65 crore in India. This kind of success across multiple languages has only been seen before with blockbusters such as Baahubali 2, KGF Chapter 2, RRR, and Pushpa 2: The Rise. Makers, meanwhile, announced that the film is part of Rs 500 crore club globally.
During the second weekend, Kantara Chapter 1 recorded more than a 75 percent increase in its collections as it earned Rs 30 crore on Saturday. On Sunday, the film saw a further 1 percent rise, raking in Rs 39.77 crore. The film reported an overall 79.33% Kannada occupancy, 47.51% in Telugu, 33.42% in Hindi, 60.43% in Tamil, and 59.06% in Malayalam market on Sunday. As per Sacnilk, Kantara Chapter 1’s worldwide gross stands at Rs 560 crore during its 10-day theatrical run.
The Rishab Shetty-starrer has now surpassed Mohit Suri’s surprise 2025 hit Saiyaara to become the second highest-grossing film of the year. Saiyaara collected Rs 329.2 crore in the domestic market, while Kantara Chapter 1 has now earned Rs 438.42 crore, overtaking the Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda-starrer. The film is now chasing Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which remains the top-grossing film of 2025 with Rs 601.54 crore in India.
Kantara Chapter 1 has also surpassed the lifetime India gross collection of Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which earned Rs 408 crore. Prabhas’ Salaar: Part 1 Ceasefire, which had earned Rs 406.45 crore, has also been left behind by the Rishab Shetty-starrer. The film has further overtaken SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali: The Beginning, which earned Rs 421 crore net in India.
