Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Day 26: And just like that, actor-director Rishab Shetty’s epic action drama Kantara: Chapter 1 has emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, dethroning director Laxman Utekar’s Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava and putting Kannada cinema back on the map. Mounted on a reported budget of Rs 125 crore, the movie has grossed Rs 852 crore so far and continues its successful run in theatres despite it being four weeks since the film’s release.
On Monday, which marked its 26th day in theatres, Kantara 2 recorded an India nett collection of Rs 2.92 crore, according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, thus taking its total domestic earnings to Rs 592.52 crore. Although the movie has been performing weaker than Chhaava during the corresponding period — the Vicky Kaushal-starrer had earned Rs 5.25 crore on its fourth Monday — Kantara 2 is likely to surpass it in terms of India nett collections in the coming days. Chhaava ended its theatrical run with domestic earnings of Rs 601.54 crore.
With its collection crossing the Rs 850 crore mark, Kantara 2 is gearing up to surpass Stree 2’s worldwide gross of Rs 857.15 crore before its scheduled OTT release. Regardless, the Rishab Shetty-starrer has already smashed a few box-office records.
* In a massive feat, Kantara 2 has emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, beating Chhaava, which earned Rs 807.91 crore during its theatrical run.
* Currently, Kantara 2 ranks second on the list of Indian movies of 2025 with the highest domestic nett collection. While it has already surpassed Saiyaara (Rs 329.72 crore), the action drama is trailing behind Chhaava (Rs 601.54 crore) at the moment.
* Reportedly, Kantara 2 has also become only the 14th Indian movie to enter the elite Rs 800 crore club. It currently ranks below Stree 2 (Rs 857.15 crore) on the list.
* It also registered the third-highest single-day collection (Rs 61.85 crore) of 2025, behind only Rajinikanth’s Coolie (Rs 65 crore) and Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG (Rs 63.75 crore).
* As it continued its successful run at the box office, Kantara 2 also crossed the 10 million ticket mark on BookMyShow, becoming one of the few Indian movies to do so.
* Kantara 2 has also emerged as the second-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, dethroning its predecessor Kantara (2022), which earned Rs 407.82 crore worldwide during its theatrical run. It is currently trailing behind KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1,215 crore). Kantara 2 is also only the fourth Kannada film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide. The first movie to ever achieve this feat was KGF: Chapter 1 (Rs 238 crore).
