In his career spanning over 25 years, singer-songwriter Maqsood Mahmood Ali, popularly known as Lucky Ali, has not only delivered many chartbusters but also etched his name into the hearts of melophiles with his unique and mystical voice. Unlike his peers who bombarded listeners with too many tracks every year, Ali focused on quality over quantity, establishing a distinct identity and making a name for himself beyond being the son of veteran actor Mehmood Ali.

At the same time, Ali has also never shied away from commenting on the political developments and atmosphere in the country. Now, he has shared an emotional post expressing the loneliness of being a Muslim today, stating that those who follow Islamic customs are often labelled as terrorists. “It’s a lonely thing to be a Muslim in the world today. It’s a lonely thing to follow the sunnah of the Prophet, your friends will leave you, the world will call you a terrorist,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). However, the comments under his post are mostly been Islamophobic.

As Mehmood’s son, Ali debuted in films at the tender age of three as a child artiste in the movie Chhote Nawab (1961), wherein his father played the titular role. He continued to make appearances in movies till his early adult years before fully dedicating himself to music. His first playback song was in Mehmood’s Ek Baap Chhe Bete (1978).

In 1996, he arrived with his first album, Sunoh, which garnered widespread acclaim. He is best known for songs such as “O Sanam”, “Ek Pal Ka Jeena”, “Safarnama”, “Na Tum Jaano Na Hum” and “Secret of Success” among others.
