With contemporary film lyrics getting bolder and catchy, musician-singer Rabbi Shergill says he like things to remain poetic when it comes to music.

When asked if he endorses bold lyrics finding their way into mainstream films, Shergill says, “I like things to be poetic. Profane or pious I don’t care. Just don’t give me prosaic.”

Shergill’s debut album “Rabbi” in 2004 was a hit while its song “Bulla ki Jaana Main Kaun” was a chartbuster. He then composed music for “Delhi Heights”. His song “Challa” from film “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” was a smashing hit.

To a poser on the trend of actors doing playback in films, Shergill said among this singer-actor pack, Kishore Kumar, Geeta Dutt are his favourites.

The singer will be performing here in suburban Kurla on May 28 and promises the evening to be fun-filled with great music.

“Audience can expect me to play out my songs with as much integrity and commitment as I possibly can.”

“One can only be as comfortable as the audience permits you to be. Audience is the boss. I am sure they will be enthralled,” he said.
