66th Annual Grammy Awards Highlights: The 2024 Grammy Awards were a star-studded affair, featuring some of the biggest names in the music industry. Hosted by comedian Trevor Noah, the event took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, where women dominated the ceremony by winning awards in most major categories. In the highly anticipated Album of the Year category, American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift’s album “Midnights” emerged as the winner. She secured the award by surpassing nominees such as SZA, Jon Batiste, boygenius, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey, Janelle Monáe and Olivia Rodrigo.

In another big win of the night, American singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” bagged the award for Record of the Year. Miley won the trophy defeating bigwigs like SZA (Kill Bill), Taylor Swift (Anti-Hero) and Billie Eilish (What Was I Made For?). Earlier in the day, the song had also earned Cyrus the award for Best Pop Solo Performance. American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish’s ballad “What Was I Made For?” from Greta Gerwig’s fantasy comedy Barbie was named the Song of the Year at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. The song also won the award for Best Song Written for Visual Media during the ceremony.
While SZA won the Grammy for Best R&B Song for “Snooze”, Taylor Swift bagged another Grammy as her “Midnights” was named the Best Pop Vocal Album. SZA entered the ceremony with the most nominations, totalling nine. Meanwhile, singer Shankar Mahadevan and percussionist Zakir Hussain’s fusion band Shakti bagged the award for Best Global Music Album for their latest release This Moment.
This year, India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, was also nominated for an award. He was recognised for his lyrical contribution to the song “Abundance in Millets,” which features music by Falguni Shah and Gaurav Shah. However, “Abundance in Millets” lost in the Best Global Music Performance category to Zakir Hussain and others’ “Pashto”.
Before the official ceremony at 8 p.m. (local time), a pre-show premiere ceremony hosted by Justin Tranter will feature several categories. The pre-show will be live-streamed on live.Grammy.com and the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel, and on Paramount+. In India, the viewers can watch the ceremony on Grammy.com and the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel, starting at 6.30 am IST on Monday. Olivia Rodrigo, Luke Combs, Billy Joel, Burna Boy, Dua Lipa and Joni Mitchell, among others artists, are expected to perform at the event. Read less
