BLACKPINK member Lisa, who generally receives lots of love and praise for her stereotype-breaking approach in fashion, seems to have slipped under scrutiny with her latest fashion move. The 28-year-old Thai K-pop star arrived at the 2025 Met Gala in her custom Louis Vuitton fit for the dress code “Tailored for You.” While her pantless look was enough to make her stand out from the other two BLACKPINK members, Jennie and Rosé, who walked the carpet in Chanel and Saint Laurent, the brands they serve as ambassadors for, and wore contrasting, more covered looks, Lisa’s ensemble easily swept the trends. But, for all the wrong reasons. The controversy erupted from the embroidery on her underwear, especially with a print that appeared to resemble Rosa Parks, one of the most iconic figures in the American civil rights movement. But that might not be the case after all.

BLACKPINK Lisa receives backlash for seemingly wearing Rosa Parks on her undies

Lisa arrived at the red carpet wearing a lingerie-coded outfit, a shimmery bodysuit on top, paired with black tights, a blazer, and a statement handbag adorned with pearls. For the look, she collaborated with Henry Taylor, a seemingly perfect outfit that is just Lisa’s style. But zooming in, fans found some details that didn’t sit well. The internet, along with some American media outlets, wasted no time calling the White Lotus alum the “worst-dressed celeb of the night.” What could have been one of the boldest fashion statements of the evening turned out to be disastrous, due to one strikingly familiar face on the embroidery done on her dress.

According to LV, however, the embroidery depicts “portraits of figures who have been a part of the artist’s life.”  Meanwhile, according to TMZ, “some of Henry’s portraits are embroidered into her ensemble.” This was the singer’s debut appearance at the Met Gala. Lisa, fresh off her Coachella performance where she electrified the crowd with her newly released Elastigirl and iconic hits like Money, recently starred in HBO’s one of the most famous shows, The White Lotus, for its third season, playing the role of a health advisor, Mook.

BLACKPINK Jennie, Rose open up about the group’s comeback

Jennie arrived at the Met Gala in custom Coco Chanel and, during her interview with Vogue, mentioned that she personally did research for her outfit, describing how it was inspired by Chanel’s decade-old runway looks. This was her third appearance at the prestigious gala, and event host La La Anthony, who’s a regular herself, didn’t waste any time asking about BLACKPINK’s comeback plans, which have been grabbing headlines. Jennie responded cheerfully, her eyes lighting up as she said, “It’s gonna be good, and we’re really excited to meet our fans.”

Rosé, who styled more casually for her second Met look in an oversized all-black tuxedo, collaborated with designer Anthony Vaccarello. Confirming speculation about a new album in the works, she said,  “I was just with the girls in the studio in Korea.” When asked about the comeback, she added, “We’ve got new music coming out,” and said, “I feel like that’s gonna be a whole different approach to how we storytell this next tour.”
