One of the most awaited films of Malayalam actor Mammootty is Turbo. On Wednesday, the makers of the movie welcomed Kannada actor-filmmaker Raj B Shetty on board. The official Twitter handle of Mammootty Kampany, Mammootty’s production company, shared a poster of the actor and welcomed him on board.
The caption of the post read, “Welcome Onboard Highly Talented @RajbShettyOMK in Turbo #Mammootty #MammoottyKampany #TurboMovie #Vysakh #MidhunManuelThomas #TruthGlobalFilms #WayfarerFilms.”
Turbo is directed by Vysakh, who has previously worked with Mammootty in films like Pokkiri Raja and Madhura Raja. The film’s screenplay is penned by Midhun Manuel Thomas. In his earlier conversation with Club FM 94.3, Midhun revealed that Turbo is going to be an action comedy.
He said, “The director was introduced to me by editor Shameer Muhammed, who asked me if I could write a script for Vysakh. Later, Vysakh and I had a conversation, getting to know each other. I suggested a few scripts I had in hand. While discussing a suitable project, I proposed an action film script to him. He liked it and we proceeded to present the script to Mammooka. He, too, was ready to sign the project, and things began from there.”
In 2018, Midhun Manuel Thomas announced a film, titled Turbo Peter, with actor Jayasurya. However, that project didn’t materialise. When asked if Turbo’s script is the same as Turbo Peter, Midhun said, “No, they are two different scripts. We only borrowed the name Turbo from the first script. Details about the script of Jayasurya’s Turbo Peter will be revealed after the release of Turbo.”
Turbo will be distributed by Dulquer Salmaan’s production house Wayfarer Films.
