Malayalam actor Shammy Thilakan has reacted to filmmaker Ranjith stepping down as Kerala Chalachitra Academy chairman and actor Siddique resigning from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) after sexual misconduct allegations surfaced in the wake of the Justice Hema Committee report. During a conversation with the media, Shammy also took a dig at AMMA president Mohanlal.
Speaking to the media, Shammy remarked that Mohanlal had “lost his ability to respond” following the emergence of these allegations. Discussing the controversy surrounding the Malayalam film industry, he stated, “Those who eat salt will drink water, whoever it is.” He added that the accused would face consequences, saying, “I live in fear too. The term ‘power group’ was used by the Hema Committee, and their report contains evidence of its existence. We can identify who is part of that group based on this evidence.” He further emphasized, “Idols that must be broken must be broken. Idols that have shown betrayal must be torn down.”

Regarding Siddique’s resignation, Shammy commented, “I don’t think Siddique’s resignation is poetic justice, but maybe my father might feel that way.” Shammy is the son of the legendary Malayalam veteran actor Thilakan, who had earned the ire of AMMA.
Siddique resigned as the General Secretary of AMMA on Sunday, a day after an actress alleged that he had raped her when she was young. According to reports, Siddique sent a resignation email to AMMA president Mohanlal and confirmed that he was stepping down due to the allegations, stating that it would “not be right to continue in the post in this situation”. He also stated that he would respond after seeking legal advice.
