Malayalee From India: Nivin Pauly takes a dig at Prithviraj in this funny and self-aware promo

The promo of Nivin Pauly's Malayalee From India is a joy ride as the hero mocks himself, pan-Indian cinema, and Prithviraj.

The promo of Nivin Pauly‘s Malayalee From India reminiscent of Nelson Dilipkumar and Anirudh Ravichader’s promos for their songs. Nivin and Dijo Jose Antony play the exaggerated versions of themselves in the laugh riot, where the director convinces the actor to star in the film Malayalee From India. The whole promo is intercut between Dijo’s lies about the movie and montages from the actual film. The two are polar opposites. While Nivin is hung up on making a pan-Indian film to keep up with the trend, Dijo seems to have made a hyper-local film.

There are several digs at the pan-Indian movement, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and mostly at Nivin himself in this promo which is creativity at its best.

Watch it for yourself:

Malayalee From India is essentially about Aalparambil Gopi, a goofy character with a hairstyle that is in perfect sync with his traits. Gopi is funny and problematic at the same time. In one scene, he is trying to woo a minor, and in another, he steals a birthday whistle from a kid screaming amidst a stampede caused due to a mad elephant.

Nivin Pauly also takes a dig at the whole debate about Bharat vs India. He wonders whether to go with ‘Bharat’ or ‘India’ for the film’s title, and Dijo Jose Antony convinces him that both are the same. Hence, we get Malayalee From India. We also get Nivin at his funny best in this promo, after a long while.
