It’s always special to see women superheroes on the big screen, and this time Kalyani Priyadarshan has turned into one in Dulquer Salmaan’s next production, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. The makers unveiled the film’s trailer on Sunday, marking the beginning of a new superhero cinematic universe.
The trailer opens with a carnage scene — a city on fire, houses burning, and people firing guns. Inside one of the burning houses sits Kalyani as Chandra. In the next sequence, Chandra arrives at a new city. However, she doesn’t know why she has been called there and is asked to wait for “him” to explain it to her. She has been instructed to maintain a low profile and hide in an old, rustic room that looks like a deserted office. However, as she secretly lives in her accommodation, Naslen K. Gafoor’s character spots her through a window and develops a romantic interest in her.
Written and directed by Tharangam filmmaker Dominic Arun, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is billed as a fantasy entertainer. The film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Nimish Ravi, editor Chaman Chakko, composer Jakes Bejoy, National Award-winning production designer Banglan, and action choreographer Yannick Ben, known for his work on projects like The Family Man and Jawan.
Produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra will release in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi on August 28.
