Kerala State Film Awards 2025 Winners Announcement Live Updates: Kerala Minister for Culture and Youth Affairs Saji Cherian announced the winners of the 55th Kerala State Film Awards at a press conference in Thrissur on Monday, November 3. A seven-member jury, chaired by veteran actor Prakash Raj, selected the winners for this edition of the prestigious awards presented by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (KSCA).
While Mammootty was named the Best Actor for his performance in director Rahul Sadasivan’s folk horror Bramayugam, debut actor Shamla Hamza bagged the trophy for Best Actress for her role in Feminichi Fathima. Besides being named Best Film, Manjummel Boys also earned Chidambaram S Poduval the award for Best Director. Feminichi Fathima, meanwhile, was named the Second Best Film as well.

A total of 128 films from the year 2024 were submitted for consideration this year, out of which 26 films were shortlisted. Prior to the announcement, Bramayugam, Feminichi Fathima, Am Aa, and Victoria were considered strong contenders for the Best Film category. In the acting categories, stars such as Mammootty, Mohanlal, Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Anaswara Rajan, and Nazriya Nazim were seen as frontrunners.
In the previous edition of the Kerala State Film Awards, Kaathal – The Core, directed by Jeo Baby, won the award for Best Film. Prithviraj Sukumaran bagged the Best Actor award for his performance in Aadujeevitham, while Urvashi and Beena R Chandran shared the award for Best Actress for their performances in Ullozhukku and Thadavu, respectively. Blessy was named Best Director for Aadujeevitham.

Expressing his happiness over receiving a Special Jury Mention (Acting) for his performance in Ajayante Randam Moshanam (ARM), actor Tovino Thomas told News18 Kerala, "My biggest aim while working on the movie was to ensure that it turned out well. This was the first time I did a triple role, and I was initially sceptical about whether I would be able to pull them off. However, my friends motivated me. When it eventually hit the screens, it became a big success, and that itself brought me much happiness." He also mentioned that the production of the film was strenuous, given its demanding nature.
