Over a fortnight after his name cropped up in a hybrid ganja case, actor Sreenath Bhasi has once again landed in controversy as the producer of one of his films has alleged that the thespian instructed him to arrange drugs for him one night. He further claimed that the actor “won’t be in the right mood” without getting cannabis. The allegations were made by Haseeb Malabar, the producer of Bhasi’s upcoming movie Namukku Kodathiyil Kaanam (See You In Court).
Explaining the incident, he told Mathrubhumi News, “One night, not directly to me, but through the boy I had assigned to him, I got a call around 2.45 or 3 am. He said he needed stuff to smoke and asked to get it somehow. I was in Thodupuzha; the shoot location was in Kozhikode. At 3 am, I got a call saying Bhasi was insisting on cannabis. The problem is that he wouldn’t show up at the location the next morning. He won’t be in the right mood unless he gets the substance.”
The producer shared that he, however, refrained from filing a formal complaint, fearing that the shooting of his movie would be affected. “Then I learnt the stuff was already at the location. The caravan was being used for that purpose. Bhasi wouldn’t let anyone else inside the caravan. He’d go in to have a smoke. If police had arrived and caught him on the spot, only then would action have been taken. I thought instead of letting all the money go down the drain, it’s better to somehow get the movie finished. Still, producers who aren’t familiar with his behaviour are chasing after him, asking for dates and even offering advances,” he added.
It may be mentioned here that this is not the first time Sreenath Bhasi has been embroiled in controversies related to drugs. Just last year, his name surfaced in a drug case involving notorious gangster Omprakash. In 2023, several film organisations had decided to cut ties with Bhasi following allegations from producers about his unruly behaviour on set and suspected drug use. In 2022, he was arrested for allegedly insulting a female anchor and was also subjected to a drug test. The latest allegation against Bhasi arrives at a time when actor Shine Tom Chacko is facing heat from the police and film bodies over alleged drug use.

Following the arrest of a woman with hybrid ganja in Alappuzha district earlier this month, several reports emerged claiming that she had alleged that both Shine Tom Chacko and Sreenath Bhasi were among those who received drugs from her. The two actors, however, denied the accusations, maintaining that they were untrue. Dubbing the whole incident as rubbish, Bhasi alleged that certain people were fabricating news. He also refrained from commenting on it further.
