When it was learnt Dulquer Salmaan is teaming up with singers Jasleen Royal and Arijit Singh for a single titled “Heeriye”, the news came as a surprise to many. Some even called it a step down for the Malayalam heartthrob. However, when the song was released, it went on to become an internet sensation.

“Heeriye” has crossed over 14 crore views on YouTube and it has become a go-to song for all romantic Instagram posts, reels, and stories.

Dulquer Salmaan has now opened up about working on “Heeriye” with Jasleen and Arijit. In a long Insta post, DQ wrote, “Heeriye has been such a memorable journey, it’s difficult to put it into words. A song that I instantly fell in love with when Jasleen shared it with me. A song that I had a blast shooting with the most wonderful crew, especially Taani and Kaushal. A song that I couldn’t stop humming since the first time I heard it. Jasleen’s composition and her unique voice coupled with my fav Arijit Singh and it just could not get any better.”

He added, “I feel like songs and movies have their destiny and I guess I was meant to be a small part of Heeriye. Today as Heeriye is topping multiple charts and creating new records, it fills my heart. I can’t thank the audience enough for appreciating everything about Heeriye, it’s been such a joy to bring you all a song that’s so special to me..”

On the work front, Dulquer Salmaan’s King of Kotha didn’t fare well at the box office. The gangster drama was pitched as the first pan-Indian film from Malayalam in an aggressive campaign, but in vain. On the other hand, Dulquer’s Netflix series Guns and Gulaabs struck gold with viewers and critics alike. He is yet to announce his future projects.
