Dominic and The Ladies Purse trailer: “Welcome to Dominic Detective Agency,” Mammootty’s Dominic greets, but anyone who lays eyes on him can quickly sense something offbeat about the guy. For one, his office is far from the tidy and orderly space you’d expect from a detective agency — it’s chaotic, almost resembling a junkyard. To top it off, he’s wearing a bathrobe that clashes entirely with the aesthetics of his surroundings. Yet, as the trailer unfolds, it becomes evident that his disarray may actually be a reflection of his ability to uncover even the most elusive of truths.
“How do you do this sir?” the character played by actor Gokul Suresh asks Dominic, to which he replies confidently, “Observation, concentration.” But what exactly is the Dominic Detective Agency all about? Their posters across Kochi read, “It is our business to know what other people don’t know.” While he claims that he can handle any difficult situation with ease, saying, “When I was in service, this was every day for me,” the promo video also suggests he might be a bit of a blabbermouth.
However, Dominic isn’t just about big talk and no action. The trailer promises that Gautham Vasudev Menon’s debut Malayalam directorial venture will deliver a high-octane blend of action, comedy and romance, true to his signature style. The promo video further hints that the film revolves around the complex situations Mammootty and Gokul’s characters find themselves in while searching for a missing ladies’ purse.
Also starring Sushmita Bhat, Viji Venkitesh, Vineeth, Lena, Sidhique and Vijay Babu in key roles, Dominic and The Ladies Purse is bankrolled by the Malayalam megastar himself under the banner of his Mammootty Kampany. While the movie’s story is penned by Dr Neeraj Rajan, its screenplay and dialogues have been co-written by Neeraj and Gautham along with Dr Sooraj Rajan. The film’s cinematography, editing, music and production design are handled by Vishnu R Dev, Anthony, Darbuka Siva and Shajie Naduvil, respectively. The movie will hit the screens on January 23.
