“There is no role that I haven’t taken on,” declares superstar Mammootty in the gripping teaser of his much-anticipated film Bazooka. Unveiled by the makers on Thursday, the teaser exudes a neo-noir vibe, showcasing Mammootty as a stylish agent tasked with taking down an evil masked gangster and winning the battle between good and evil.
The teaser opens with Gautham Vasudev Menon’s character, a cop, lying to his superiors as his team ruthlessly thrashes goons on the streets. He is also seen gunning down miscreants. The voiceover by Babu Antony, who plays the antagonist, then takes over as he says, “It’s a game that starts with one and ends with a hundred. A game between good and bad.” The visuals show a man in a black overcoat entering a football stadium as menacing music plays in the background.
Mammootty makes his entrance, sitting calmly in a room as a computer assistant wakes him up, instructing him to get ready and don a tuxedo for a mission. The scene cuts to Mammootty stepping out of a vintage car, looking dashing in a black tuxedo with his lustrous locks gracefully tied in a bun. Sporting a thick mustache and beard, Mammootty emanates a raw, captivating aura as the background voice ominously declares, “We are screwed.” The teaser concludes with Gautham Vasudev Menon asking Mammootty about his role, to which the actor responds with swagger, “There is no role that I haven’t taken on,” a nod to his vast filmography.
Talking about the film, Mammootty earlier told PTI, “It is nice to come across a script that takes you by surprise and grabs your interest instantly. Bazooka is an action film but it is also a game of wits and has strong, well-etched characters. I am looking forward to the filming process because I know my character will take me on a very interesting journey.”
Bazooka is helmed by debutant filmmaker Deeno Dennis, son of veteran scriptwriter Kaloor Dennis. The film also stars Divya Pillai, Shine Tom Chacko, Sharaf U Dheen, Jagadish, and Sunny Wayne in key roles. The film’s music is composed by Midhun Mukundan.
Bazooka is jointly bankrolled by Jinu Abraham and Siddharth Anand Kumar under the banners of Theatre of Dreams and Yoodlee Films, the movie studio arm of Saregama India Limited.
