Amid Bramayugam, Premalu tsunami, Indrajith Sukumaran film Marivillin Gopurangal’s release postponed

With Bramayugam and Premalu already doing well in theatres and the Biju Menon film Thundu set to hit the screens tomorrow, the release of Indrajith Sukumaran's Marivillin Gopurangal has been postponed a day before its scheduled debut.

With Rahul Sadasivan’s Mammootty-starrer Bramayugam garnering rave reviews and Girish AD’s Premalu, starring Naslen and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, continuing to perform well at the box office, theatres in Kerala are abuzz as audiences flock to enjoy these films on the big screen.

The success of Midhun Manuel Thomas’ Abraham Ozler and Premalu, along with the impending success of Bramayugam, comes as a relief for theatres in the state, which were struggling financially due to the consecutive failures of movies with low ticket sales.

Meanwhile, with two films already doing well in theatres and Riyas Shereef’s Biju Menon and Shine Tom Chacko-starrer Thundu set to hit the screens tomorrow, the release of Arun Bose’s Indrajith Sukumaran-starrer Marivillin Gopurangal has been postponed a day before its scheduled debut.

Sharing a poster of the movie on Instagram, lead actor Indrajith noted, “A much-needed change… Will come back soon..!” The poster, featuring Indrajith’s face, read, “Good things take time. Wait a bit more to catch us in theatres soon.”

It’s worth mentioning that even if Marivillin Gopurangal’s release is shifted to next week, it will face tough competition from Chidambaram’s much-awaited survival thriller Manjummel Boys, starring Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi and Balu Varghese in the lead roles.

Arun Bose’s fourth feature film Marivillin Gopurangal also stars State Award-winning actor Vincy Aloshious, Shruti Ramachandran, Sarjano Khalid, Sai Kumar and Johny Antony, among others. Its music has been composed by Vidyasagar.

Although filming wrapped up in June 2023 and there were reports of a November release, the makers recently announced a release date of February 16. However, the new release date for the film has not been confirmed yet.
