Luis Guzmán gave fans plenty to chew on during his recent Hot Ones appearance. But it was a jab at his 1998 co-star Jennifer Lopez that stole the spotlight, leaving viewers certain there’s more to the story. His blunt response even stunned his Wednesday castmates Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, and Joy Sunday, who sat beside him looking caught off guard.

Jennifer Lopez’s former co-star disses her

The moment happened during a game where Guzmán was asked to describe some of his past co-stars in just one word. Myers quizzed him about the “biggest legends in Hollywood history” he has worked with for years. “I will now run down a list of your previous collaborators, and you must quickly give me one word that describes them,” she asked. When names like Adam Sandler and Catherine Zeta-Jones came up, he had nothing but praise, calling them “amazing” and “bellísima.” But when Jennifer Lopez’s name was mentioned, Guzmán just shrugged and said, “OK.”

That blunt reaction and the awkwardness were clear in the clip as everyone burst into laughter, with Sunday gasping at how casually he brushed off the diva. Guzmán didn’t explain further, but the moment set off a wave of social media reaction. “Lol did he really say that?” one person wrote. “The J.Lo jab had me weak. I wasn’t expecting that blunt of an answer, but then again it’s Luis,” another said, while many in the YouTube comments claimed they were “crying laughing” over his response. “Can someone tell me what’s the gossip behind this?” one more chimed in.

Guzmán and Lopez starred together in  the 1998 crime comedy Out of Sight. In the movie, the Wednesday star played Chino and Lopez played federal marshal Karen Sisco opposite George Clooney. While Guzmán didn’t explain his one-word reaction, Its widely known that Lopez herself had a history of making bold comments about her co-stars during the same time period.   In a 1998 Movieline interview, she shaded Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, Salma Hayek, and Winona Ryder and later claimed her words were misquoted or taken out of context. Over the years, Lopez has addressed that controversial interview, telling Vanity Fair in 2001 that she had been misrepresented. In a 2018 interview with the NPR she even admitted he “never wanted to hurt anybody” but “really pissed people off” back then.
