Thor: Ragnarok, starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo and Cate Blanchett, has had a thunderous box office opening in India. The Marvel film directed by Taika Waititi is being loved by audience and the critics alike throughout the world and the same effect can be seen in India as well.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#ThorRagnarok has one of the best starts for Hollywood films in India… Fri ₹ 7.73 cr Nett. GrossBOC: ₹ 9.91 cr. India biz.”
Thor Ragnarok is the biggest non-holiday Friday collection this year for Hollywood movies and has beaten all other Friday releases by miles. It is also the 2nd highest opening for any Hollywood film in 2017.
Thor Ragnarok has released alongside Bollywood film Ittfeaq that stars Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna and while the former has had a big opening at the box office, the latter managed to earn only Rs 4.05 crore on its opening day. Ittefaq will witness a tough competition from the superhero film.
Indian Express film critic Sampada Sharma gave four stars to Thor Ragnarok. She wrote, “Surpassing all expectations, Thor: Ragnarok, can easily be credited as the funniest film to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We expect a superhero film to be an action packed adventure but Thor: Ragnarok is primarily a comedy with some great action sequences sprinkled in at just the right moments.”
