After Mank and Mindhunter, David Fincher has again teamed up with Netflix for another project. The Killer, which comes after a gap of three years since Mank, is based on the French graphic novel by Alexis Nolent and illustrated by Luc Jacamon. Andrew Kevin Walker, who wrote the screenplay of Fincher’s Seven, is teaming up with the director for The Killer.

The story of The Killer follows an assassin, who starts having an existential crisis after a failed mission. The official logline of the film reads, “After a fateful near-miss an assassin battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal.”

The film has Micahel Fassbender in his first collaboration with David Fincher. Other than Fassbender, the movie also has Tilda Swinton, Charles Parnell, Arliss Howard, and Sophie Charlotte in important roles.

Throughout the teaser, the killer can be heard saying, “Stick to the plan.” However, it looks like he is unable to do so causing a huge mayhem. The premise is reminiscent of Jason Statham’s hit film series Transporter, which is about an illegal smuggler, who breaks his code of rules which lands him in trouble.

Here’s the teaser:

The Killer has been in the making for a while now and David Fincher has been associated with the project from the start. The film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September ahead of its worldwide release. It has created a lot excitement among fans of Fincher as he is returning to his signature genre with the film.
