Disney has released the trailer for the new live-action adaption of Snow White, set to release in March 2025.

Disney has debuted the first trailer for its upcoming live-action remake of Snow White; the landmark original animated film was released in 1937. Rachel Zegler will showcase her singing and acting skills in the titular role. The live-action remake also features Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, who is driven by her unquenchable thirst for being the ‘fairest maiden in all of the land.’ Both the original and the remake are inspired by the German fairy tale written by the Brothers Grimm in 1812.

The movie has been directed by Mark Webb, best known for The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Webb has also directed the memorable romantic comedy (500) Days of Summer. In addition to Gadot and Zegler, Snow White also features stars like Andrew Burnap, Ansu Kabia, Dujonna Gift, Martin Klebba, and Colin Michael Carmichael.

The trailer introduces the Evil Queen, who is blinded by power and knows no empathy. She challenges Snow White, who wants her father’s throne back so she can provide justice to her people. The portrayal of the seven dwarves has proven to be controversial in the past, but the remake appears to be relying entirely on computer-generated imagery to create the characters. Reactions to the trailer on social media have been mixed. While many are excited to see a brand new adaptation of the classic, many are disappointed at Disney’s attempt to rehash old narratives.

The last live-action adaptation of the story was Snow White and The Huntsman, which was released in 2012. The Kristen Stewart-led project did well at the box office and inspired a sequel, The Huntsman: Winter’s War.
