Three months after the release of the epic sci-fi film Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, director Zack Snyder and Netflix are gearing up for the release of its sequel, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, with Sofia Boutella reprising her role as the rebellious warrior Kora.

Netflix has now unveiled the official trailer for Rebel Moon – Part Two, which continues Kora’s mission to protect the once-peaceful village of Veldt from the imperialistic forces of Motherworld and the Imperium military.

The 162-second trailer opens with a high-octane action sequence, showcasing Kora’s determination in what appears to be a seemingly unwinnable battle. But the people of Veldt are not ready to give up, and Kora still holds hope though “dark days lay ahead.” When Kora, the Scargiver, is confronted with the question of whether she is prepared to allow the bloodbath to continue in her name, she asserts, “I won’t allow this place to die for me.” Nevertheless, the trailer ends by showing that the war is far from over.

A direct sequel to A Child of Fire, which opened to very poor reviews, Rebel Moon – Part Two’s official synopsis reads, “The Scargiver continues the epic saga of Kora and the surviving warriors as they prepare to sacrifice everything, fighting alongside the brave people of Veldt, to defend a once peaceful village, a newfound homeland for those who have lost their own in the fight against the Motherworld.”

Rebel Moon Part Two – The Scargiver trailer here:

“On the eve of their battle, the warriors must face the truths of their own pasts, each revealing why they fight. As the full force of the Realm bears down on the burgeoning rebellion, unbreakable bonds are forged, heroes emerge, and legends are made.”

Also starring Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, and Ray Fisher in key roles, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver’s screenplay has been penned by Snyder himself, along with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten, based on the director’s story. The sequel will debut directly on Netflix on April 19.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder expressed his aspirations for a third film in the series, while also teasing additional content such as a graphic novel, podcast, and photo book.

Meanwhile, Boutella had recently told Vulture that critics bashing the space epic had impacted her emotionally. Responding to the reviews, Snyder told Empire Magazine, “I don’t really have a rebuttal to the reviews.” He added, “For whatever reason, the reaction to my movies is very polarizing, and it always has been. The movie, it doesn’t seem like there’s that much in it that would warrant such visceral responses.”

In his review of the movie, The Indian Express’ Rohan Naahar gave Rebel Moon one out of five stars and wrote, “Despite echoes of Lagaan and India’s colonial past, director Zack Snyder’s legions of local fans might struggle to find positives about his ghastly new Netflix film.”
