Hollywood star and Oscar-winning actor and writer Matt Damon has been promoting his recent release, Air, directed by close friend Ben Affleck and co-starring Viola Davis and Jason Bateman. But even in the midst of all that promotion spree, Damon wanted to put out his reaction to Christopher Nolan’s highly awaited feature Oppenheimer.
Damon, who stars in it along with a plethora of other A-listers, revealed he has already seen the three-hour long movie based on American theoretical physicist J Robert Oppenheimer’s role in participating in the Manhattan Project– the research team gathered to investigate and producer world’s first nuclear weapons.
Matt Damon couldn’t help but gush about the Nolan directorial to Variety, saying that the film is ‘fantastic’: “I have seen it, it is fantastic, and Cillian (Murphy, the lead star) is everything you would want him to be.” When asked if he ever felt the need of an interval and is there one in the movie, Damon was quick to refuse and said, “No, God no. I asked Christopher Nolan how long it was, I was shocked to learn it was three hours, it goes so fast. Oppenheimer is great, I am really looking forward to that one.”
Oppenheimer stars the talented Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy in the titular role. The Irish actor, who prefers to maintain a low profile, is considered one of the most underrated actors of his time, and has often collaborated with Nolan in the past. Murphy has appeared in Nolan’s Inception, both the Batman films (The Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises), and more recently, in Dunkirk.
Also starring Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek and Kenneth Branagh among others, Oppenheimer is said to release in cinemas worldwide on July 21.
