It seems that everyone has a story about Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om these days, and the latest to join the wagon is actor Catherine Zeta-Jones. The Mask of Zorro actor, who is currently seen as Morticia Addams in the show Wednesday, took notice of fans comparing episode seven of the second season to the Shah Rukh Khan movie. Catherine’s curiosity led her to watch the film, and she is already using memes made from shots of the film.

Fans on the internet pointed out several similarities between the episode, including a musical performance taking the plot forward, a chandelier, Deepika Padukone and Jenna Ortega having very similar positioning with respect to the camera and more. Apparently Catherine heard about this and decided to take a look for herself. Then she decided to take a dig at President Donald Trump attending the US Open, using a scene from the film where Shah Rukh and Deepika are playing badminton. She wrote, “Waiting for Trump to take a seat at the US Open. Enjoying Om Shanti Om while we wait in the car.”

Fans had already been buzzing over the similar themes, with one user writing, “Yeh Wednesday mein Om Shanti Om kisne add kardi bhai? (Who added Om Shanti Om to Wednesday?),” while another commented, “I cannot be the only one – Wednesday season 2 episode 7 – the whole gala part of the episode – the chandelier falling, the zoom in to Wednesday as she walks – it’s giving climax to Om Shanti Om.” Fans on Instagram also pointed out further similarities between Wednesday and Shah Rukh’s film Main Hoon Na, referencing a scene where the whole school is looking at Jenna saving the day in a similar manner to Ram saving Lakshman in the film.

While there hasn’t been any official confirmation of inspiration by the creators of the show, fans have continued their speculations regarding the matter, and these comparisons only help the show achieve greater pull with the mainstream audience of India.
