Vidya Balan,Kakodkar to be honoured by Priyadarshni Academy

Vidya Balan has been named as recepients of global awards instituted by Priyadarshni Academy.

Bollywood actress,Vidya Balan,and Memmber of Atomic Energy Commission,Anil Kakodkar,have been named as recepients of global awards instituted by Priyadarshni Academy,a socio-cultural organisation,for their significant contribution in their respective fields.

Balan would be honoured with Smita Patil Memorial Award while Kakodkar would be felicitated with an award for outstanding contribution in the field of nuclear technology on September 19 at the 26th awards function of Priyadarshni Academy here,its Chairman Nanik Rupani said today.

The awardees were selected by Global Awards Advisory Committee headed by Dr R A Mashelkar,former Scientific Advisor to Prime Minister,he told a press conference here.

The other awardees include Dr S S Badrinath,Chairman Emeritus,Sankara Nethralaya,for Contribution to Inclusive Medical Services,Anil Gupta,Executive Vice Chairman,National Innovation Foundation,for contribution to Promotion of Grass Roots Innovation and Ole Johansson,CEO,Wartsila Corporation,Finland,for Development of Sustainable Energy.

Martin Luther King III,CEO,King Center for Non-violent Social Change,Atlanta,US,would be honoured with an Award for Contribution to the Promotion of Human Rights while A M Naik Chairman and MD,Larsen & Toubro,would be felicitated for Contribution to Corporate Leadership.

Yoshihiro Nishida,Vice Chairman,Yokohama India Centre Japan,would be conferred with an Award for Contribution to promotion of Indian Business and Culture Abroad while Raul Diez Canseco Terry,former Vice President of Peru would be honoured for Contribution to promotion of Education.
