Though it has been over 12 years since its release, Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD) remains a favourite for thousands of fans. Shot mostly in Spain, ZNMD received enthusiastic reviews and achieved commercial success, setting a standard for future travel movies.

Centred on three childhood best friends — Arjun (Hrithik Roshan), Kabir (Abhay Deol) and Imraan (Farhan Akhtar) — the film tells the story of their three-week road trip across Europe and the events that unfold during this adventure.

While the film is still frequently rewatched by many, Farhan Akhtar’s recent social media post has left ZNMD fans flabbergasted. Sharing a selfie resembling Imraan’s look, Farhan noted on Instagram, “The Imraan look comes full circle. What say @zoieakhtar ..? Should the Bwoys head on another road trip .. 😉”

As fans started speculating about a possible sequel, Hrithik aka Arjun, fuelled the excitement with his comment: “Lesssss goooooo!!!! 🕺🏻” Injecting a bit of Kabir-ness, Abhay mentioned, “I’ve had my #bagwati packed since 2012, what’s keeping you guys?”

Amidst all the speculation, director Zoya seemed to give a green signal to the trip by commenting: “My Bagwati is packed ♥️.”

As soon as the post was shared, countless excited fans couldn’t hold back from commenting on it and needless to say many were as hilarious as the movie is.

“Wait, what!!? Farhan, getting our hopes high and then not making this movie, is-NOT-FUNNY!,” one user mentioned, while another one noted: “Wonder what Bagwati 👜 is up to in life 🤔”.

Quoting Imraan himself, Netflix India commented: “Insaan ka kartavya hota hai ek road trip plan karna 👉👈” “Don’t give us Hopes I say dare not😭😭,” another Instagrammer mentioned.

However, a few expressed their desire for Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa to be completed before starting work on ZNMD 2. Co-written by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, Jee Le Zaraa was announced in 2021 with Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles.

In an interview with Variety last month, Farhan had mentioned that the film was getting delayed due to some issues with the dates. “We just have issues with dates, and the actor’s strike that’s happened has put Priyanka’s dates into a huge tizzy with what can happen and what can’t, so I’ve started genuinely believing that that film now has a destiny of its own. It’ll happen when it has to, we’ll see,” he said.

Apart from Hrithik, Abhay and Farhan, ZNMD also starred Katrina Kaif, Kalki Koechlin, Naseeruddin Shah and Deepti Naval in key roles. The songs composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy trio were also a big hit.
