Veteran actor Sanjay Khan’s wife, Zarine Khan, passed away on Friday at the age of 81 due to age-related health complications. Her funeral, held in Mumbai, saw several celebrities in attendance, including Hrithik Roshan, Rajat Bedi, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Esha Deol, Saba Azad, Zoya Akhtar, Bobby Deol, Jackie Shroff, Rohit Dhawan, Madhur Bhandarkar, Jasmin Bhasin and Aly Goni, among others.
Her last rites were performed by her son, Zayed Khan in accordance with Hindu traditions. Before her marriage to Sanjay Khan, Zarine was a practising Hindu and her maiden surname was Katrak. Honouring her wishes and her family heritage, the final rites were carried out following Hindu customs. In a video from the ceremony, Zayed can be seen visibly emotional, with tears in his eyes, as he performs the rituals.
Earlier in the day, Jaya Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan and Shabana Azmi, among others, were was seen visiting Zarine Khan’s residence to pay their last respects.

Zarine Khan briefly pursued acting and appeared in films such as Tere Ghar Ke Saamne (1963) and Ek Phool Do Mali (1969). In 1966, she married Sanjay Khan, who was known for his roles in films like Dil Ne Pukara (1965), Abhilasha (1968), and Upaasna (1971). Zarine later stepped away from films to build a successful career in interior design, a path her daughter Sussanne Khan would also follow.
Zarine Khan is survived by her husband, Sanjay Khan, and their children, Sussanne Khan, Zayed Khan, Simone Arora, and Farah Ali Khan.
