Veteran lyricist Yogesh Gaur, 77, passed away on Friday. He gave Hindi cinema some memorable songs in films like Anand (1971), Mili (1975), Rajnigandha (1974), Chhoti Si Baat (1976), Baton Baton Mein (1979), Manzil (1979) and many others.
He penned the lyrics of melancholic songs like like “Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaye”, “Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli”, “Rajnigandha Phool Tumhare” and “Maine Kaha Phoolon Se” among many others which are remembered to this date.
While paying him a tribute on Twitter, Javed Akhtar mentioned how the late lyricist Yogesh never got his due. He tweeted, “deeply sad to know that an exceptional lyricist Yogesh ji has passed away He wrote a number of great songs like kahin door jab din dhal jaye or zindagi kaisi hai paheli or kaee baar yun bhi dekha hai yeh jo man ki seema Rekha hai . Strangely the world did not give him his due.”
Lata Mangeshkar who sang several songs written by Yogesh Gaur was also saddened by the news of his demise. “Mujhe abhi pata chala ki dil ko chunewale geet likhnewale kavi Yogesh ji ka aaj swargwas hua. Ye sunke mujhe bahut dukh hua.Yogesh ji ke likhe kai geet maine gaaye. Yogesh ji bahut shaant aur madhur swabhav ke insan the. Main unko vinamra shraddhanjali arpan karti hun. (I just got to know about the death of Yogesh Ji who wrote many heartwarming songs. I have sung many songs written by him. He was a very calm and composed man. I pay my respects to him),” she wrote on Twitter.
