Actor Ronit Roy once revealed that he missed the chance of a successful career in Hollywood because of Student of the Year. Now, the actor has shared that he could have also been a part of the American thriller series Homeland had he quit his then-successfully running show, Adaalat and accepted the offer from the makers of Homeland.
In a new interview with Lehren Retro, Ronit expressed his wish of “winning an Oscar” one day and shared, “Besides Zero Dark Thirty, I missed out on Homeland. When Homeland was offered to me, I was shooting for Adaalat on Sony TV, and it was a bi-weekly thriller.”
But the actor declined the offer as he didn’t want to leave Sony Entertainment Channel hanging by leaving their show. He played the role of lawyer K.D. Pathak in it for five years.
Ronit said, “I understand Homeland and all that but K.D Pathak is one of the most popular characters that I have done. People still love him. It was my show. I won’t give up my show, and show thenga to Sony and say, ‘Acha jaa raha hun (Okay, I am leaving)’.”
The actor said he would have ‘gladly’ done Homeland had he been free when the makers extended the offer. But since they wanted him for five months, his accepting the offer would have meant curtains on Adaalat. “One show that is rolling with 150 people living on it… you are shutting 150 families. You can’t do that for a Homeland,” Ronit expressed.
However, despite two missed opportunities, Ronit Roy, who became a household name after playing the role of Mr Bajaj in Kasautii Zindagi Kay, is confident that he will move to Hollywood one day. He said, “I am confident it will happen sooner or later.”
Another thing that Ronit is confident about is him becoming a bad politician if he ever joins politics. He said, “I don’t understand politics. I have been offered a ticket twice, once by Congress and once by BJP, one time it was opposite Smriti (Irani). I was like, ‘Merko toh maaf hi karo (spare me).’ I have never thought about it but if I were to join politics, I would be a big misfit.”
The actor was last seen in Salman Khan’s niece, Alizeh Agnihotri led film Farrey.
