When Shakti Kapoor warned all against messing with Shraddha Kapoor, revealed she’s a spendthrift: ‘For a Rs 70 hamburger, she gives a tip of Rs 100’

Shraddha Kapoor, daughter of veteran actor Shakti Kapoor, played a significant role in revitalising Bollywood during its challenging period in 2024 when most highly anticipated films struggled at the box office. Her film Stree 2 was a standout success, grossing Rs 857.15 crore worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing Indian film and the top-grossing Hindi film of the year. Known for seamlessly balancing emotionally intense and comedic roles, Shraddha is equally loved for her quirky personality off-screen. Shakti Kapoor himself once opened up about his daughter’s nature, describing her as stubborn, eccentric and moody, while also cautioning others not to mess with her.

“She has largely been brought up by her maternal grandparents and was also looked after by her aunts. She is their favourite and perhaps that’s why she is a little stubborn, eccentric and moody. You have to tolerate her tantrums but the good thing is that she can be cajoled easily. She is not a difficult girl but you dare not mess with her,” Shakti remarked in a 2014 Filmfare interview, shortly after Shraddha’s breakout success with the romantic musical Aashiqui 2 (2013).

Discussing her intolerance for rude behaviour, Shakti Kapoor noted that politeness is essential when interacting with her. “If you happen to upset her, she locks herself in the room and stays inside for hours. Her moods can turn the house upside down! Even as a child, she disliked loud and abusive people,” he added. Opening up about Shraddha’s relationship with money, her father quipped, “Handling her finances is not difficult as she earns two pennies and spends eight. She is a spendthrift. For a Rs 70 hamburger, she gives a tip of Rs 100. Also, she doesn’t believe in bargaining.”

He also spoke about the advice he gave her regarding romantic relationships: “We have not put any ban on Shraddha; we know as she is young and will have boyfriends. But, I caution her, ‘Don’t cheat anyone and don’t get cheated either!'”
