When Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan tied the knot, the going was not so smooth. The two received death threats as well as threats that their families will be harmed. The two didn’t pay them any heed, getting married in a private ceremony in October 2012.
Addressing the threats later, Saif had told Rediff, “Some people were not happy with us getting married. My father-in-law (Randhir Kapoor) had received some letters from anonymous people, claiming they will harm our family and bomb the place.”
The actor had said that they were unperturbed because the family had faced something similar back when Saif’s parents, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore married. “But these things did not bother me because who cares what these people think! Making threats and carrying them out are two different things. There were death threats when my parents got married too,” he had said.
In an earlier conversation with Mojo Story, Sharmila had recalled, “In Kolkata, when I was getting married, my parents were getting telegrams saying that bullets shall speak. And Tiger’s family was also getting… they were getting a little worried.” She had said that the wedding took place and “nothing untoward happened.”
Kareena and Saif are parents to sons Taimur and Jeh.
