Virat Kohli’s sister Bhawna on alleged viral photo of the cricketer and Anushka Sharma’s son: ‘Not our Akaay’

On Sunday, an infant was spotted in the stand right behind Anushka Sharma. Soon after, the picture was widely circulated as Akaay Kohli's first appearance. However, it was Anushka's friend's daughter.

Days after a picture of a baby went viral as Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s second-born, Akaay, the cricketer’s sister Bhawna Kohli Dhingra took her social media handles to clear the air.

On Monday, Bhawna took to her Instagram story and said the baby in the viral picture is Anushka’s friend’s daughter. She wrote, “Have been seeing Virat and Anushka’s friend’s daughter being mistaken for Akaay on social media. The child in the picture is not our Akaay… thank you.”

On Sunday, people celebrated when Virat Kohli scored his 30th Test century in the first test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024. During this moment, an infant was spotted in the stand just behind where Anushka was sitting, and the child was mistaken as Akaay Kohli. The picture soon went viral with several internet users comparing the baby’s face to Virat Kohli’s childhood pictures.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma welcomed Akaay Kohli in February this year. This is their second child after their daughter Vamika. Both Virat and Anushka like to keep their kids away from the public eye. The couple has also moved to London, where they spend most of the time and visit India occasionally for events and matches.

Virat and Anushka tied the knot in 2017 after dating for several years. They welcomed their daughter Vamika during the pandemic. Previously, Vamika’s photo from the stand had gone viral, post which Anushka had issued an statement. Their statement read: “Hi guys! We realise that our daughter’s images were captured at the stadium yesterday and widely shared thereafter. We want to inform everyone that we were caught off guard and didn’t know that the camera was on us. Our stance and request on the matter stay the same. We would really appreciate it if Vamika’s images are not clicked/published for reasons we have explained earlier. Thank you!”
