Amid rumours of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma moving to London with their kids, Akaay and Vamika, the star cricketer has returned to international cricket with the AUS vs IND ODI series in Perth after a gap of five months. Recently, Kohli opened up about taking a long break from cricket and how he spent the time with his family, calling it “a beautiful phase.”
Speaking to Ravi Shastri and Adam Gilchrist on Fox Cricket, Virat said, “I got to spend some real quality time with my kids and family, something I haven’t been able to do much over the years. It’s been a beautiful phase, one that I deeply cherish.”
Virat Kohli had retired from Test and T20I formats, and this marks his return to the ODI series for the first time since lifting the Champions Trophy 2025 in February.
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were rumoured to have shifted base to London after the birth of their son, Akaay. Reports suggest that Anushka gave birth to Akaay in London.
The couple has always been private about their personal life and ensures the paparazzi refrain from photographing their children. Recently, Virat surprised fans by sharing a picture with Anushka on Instagram after a long time. He wrote in the caption, “Been a minute ✋.”
Cricketer Dinesh Karthik also spoke about Virat Kohli’s future in the sport and whether he plans to play in the 2027 World Cup. “In London, he was training during this big layoff that he’s had after a long time in his life. And I also know he was practising cricket easily, two to three sessions a week. That tells you the man is serious about wanting to play this World Cup,” Karthik said.
