Vicky Kaushal was ‘almost flying’ after drinking for an important scene during Dunki, recalls Anil Grover: ‘He performed the scene beautifully’

Anil Grover recalled that Shah Rukh Khan knew that he and Vicky Kaushal had been drinking before shooting an important scene for Dunki.

Vicky Kaushal had a small cameo in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dunki but the actor has managed to create quite an impact through his special appearance in the film. Anil Grover, who shared screen space with the Sam Bahadur actor in the Rajkumar Hirani directorial, recently said that in one of the scenes, he and Vicky used ‘method acting’ and got drunk on vodka in the latter’s vanity van. Describing Vicky as a “brilliant guy”, Anil shared that they had some vodka and later had some lemons to get sober.

“I remember doing a scene with Vicky. We had to prepare for it. He took us to his vanity and we went a little method there and we drank a little. Vicky helped us a lot and sailed us through that important scene,” he shared in a chat with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel. Anil said that they had only one drink and added that Vicky was “almost flying”.

He added, “The kind of acting we were doing, it wasn’t really method. But it worked for the scene I guess.” Anil mentioned that Vicky “had to be aggressive in that scene” and he performed it “beautifully”. When asked if others on the set knew that they were drunk, Anil said that Shah Rukh Khan was aware of it. The actor said that after performing the scene, they took some lemons to get sober.

In an earlier chat on Dunki on Red Chillies Entertainment’s YouTube channel, Shah Rukh also spoke about this particular scene and said, “Main aise hi impress ho raha tha ke achi acting kar raha hai (I was impressed thinking that he is a good actor).” He also mentioned that Vicky Kaushal aced this scene in the film and shared, “Isne ye scene bahut khoobsurat kiya (He performed this scene beautifully), fantastically performed.”
