Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif‘s Tiger 3 has been in the theatres for nearly two weeks after it released on Diwali and after 13 days, the film has managed to collect Rs 258.37 crore at the domestic box office. On Friday, the film’s recorded its lowest collect yet as it could only manage to bring in Rs 3.5 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.
Tiger 3 had a strong opening day as it made Rs 44.5 crore in India on Diwali and recorded its biggest grossing day on its second day as it made Rs 59.25 crore. However, since then the film’s collections have been in a downward spiral. The worldwide collection of Tiger 3 currently stands at Rs 413.7 crore.
Tiger 3 has been trailing behind other films in the YRF Spy Universe like Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Hrithik Roshan’s War. Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which released earlier this year, made Rs 543.05 crore nett in India and the 2019 film War, starring Hrithik Roshan, made Rs 317.91 crore nett in the domestic market. To cross War’s collections in India, Tiger 3 still needs to make over Rs 59 crore, which seems difficult now as Tiger 3 is bringing in single-digit collections. It will also be facing competition from Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal next week.
The occupancy rate of Tiger 3 has also been disappointing. On Friday, which was its 13th day, the film had only 664 shows in the Delhi-NCR region which saw an occupancy of only 12%. In Mumbai, where the film has 415 shows, the occupancy is only of 14%.
Even as Salman’s film has been performing less than expected in the last few days, the actor has been promoting his film via interviews and has been thanking the audience for their love. In a statement, Salman said, “I have immense pride in being an action hero and I’m fortunate that people have loved me in this avatar in so many films. It feels great to taste success again and again with this genre because it is not an easy genre of cinema to please people with. You have to constantly reinvent and give audiences something new that they haven’t seen with each action film.”
This is the third film of the Tiger franchise. The franchise started with Ek Tha Tiger, directed by Kabir Khan, and was followed by Ali Abbas Zafar’s Tiger Zinda Hai. Tiger 3, also starring Emraan Hashmi, has been directed by Maneesh Sharma.
