Thamma box office collection day 6: Ayushmann Khurrana’s film eyes Rs 100 cr club but needs to pass Monday test

Thamma box office collection day 6: Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna's vampire comedy hasn't been able to enter the Rs 100 crore club yet, which Stree 2 did in less than four days last year.

Aditya Sarpotdar’s vampire comedy Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, may be no Stree 2, but it’s slowly and surely inching towards the Rs 100 crore mark. Given its current pace, the film should enter the Rs 100 crore club by the end of its opening week, unless it registers a massive downfall on its first Monday, its seventh day at the box office.

Thamma box office collection day-wise

On Sunday (day 6), Thamma earned Rs 13 crore at the domestic box office. This was after a marginal dip from its Saturday (day 5) earnings of Rs 13.10 crore, which was after a significant increase from its Friday (day 4) collection of Rs 10 crore. That was post a significant decline from its Thursday (day 3) earnings of Rs 13 crore on the occasion of the Bhai Dooj festival.

On Wednesday (day 2), Thamma amassed Rs 18.60 crore, registering a slight decline after its opening day figure of Rs 24 crore on Tuesday, the day right after Diwali. However, the film hasn’t been able to surpass its opening day yet, even over the weekend. As per Sacnilk, its current box office collection in India after six days stands at Rs 91.70 crore.

Thamma was released in both its native Hindi version and a dubbed Telugu version. However, the latter has only managed to earn Rs 70 lakh in six days. The majority chunk of Rs 91 crore belongs to the former. While the film has performed better than most instalments of Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik’s Maddock Horror Comedy Universe — Stree (2018), Bhediya (2022), and Munjya (2024) — it’s no patch on last year’s blockbuster Stree 2.

Stree 2 had earned in just three days what Thamma has been able to secure in six. In fact, the earnings on the first Sunday (Rs 55.90 crore) since its release was even higher than its historic opening day of Rs 51.80 crore. It’d entered the Rs 100 crore club in less than four days and went on to become the highest grossing Hindi film in India till that point, concluding its 11-week box office run at Rs 597.99 crore.

But Thamma has far outperformed the other Diwali release this year — Milap Zaveri’s romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa. That film has earned Rs 41.25 crore within six days of its release at the domestic box office. That’s also a significant achievement for a film with a huge competition in Thamma and with limited budget, no major star cast or pre-release buzz.

Thamma and Ek Deewane ki Deewaniyat

As per a video clip going viral on X, Rane and Bajwa can be seen visiting a multiplex during one of the shows and interacting with the audience. “You’ve supported the films of two outsiders — Ayushmann Khurrana and me. That sends out such a strong message. You’ve singlehandedly wiped out nepotism from Bollywood,” says Rane in the clip.
