Sunny Deol‘s on-screen appearances have been quite infrequent in recent years, typically limited to one film per year. Similarly, his attendance record in parliament reflects this pattern, if not less. During a recent conversation on Aap Ki Adalat, Sunny was questioned about his low parliamentary attendance and whether he intends to run for elections in 2024.

In response to inquiries about his limited presence in parliament, the actor-politican emphasisedd that his absence from the legislative body doesn’t hinder his work in his constituency. He said in Hindi, “My attendance is really low and I don’t say that this is a good thing but when I came into politics, I realised this is not my world. But I am working for my constituency and I will keep doing that. It doesn’t matter if I go to parliament or not, that doesn’t affect my work for my constituency. Also, I face problems when I go to the parliament. There is security and then there was Covid. As an actor wherever you go, people surround you. I have a list of the work I’ve done for my constituency, but I am not among those who promote their work. As for politics, yes it is a profession that I don’t fit in.”

When probed about his potential candidacy in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Sunny firmly responded, “I don’t want to fight anymore.” When asked if Prime Minister Narendra Modi would want him to fight the election, he said, “Modi ji also knows that this boy Sunny is doing service for the country through his films, so he should continue doing that.”

Sunny Deol joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on April 23, 2019, and successfully secured victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, representing the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab, by defeating Sunil Jakhar of the Indian National Congress.

Currently, the actor is basking in the success of his film Gadar 2, which achieved the remarkable feat of crossing the Rs 500 crore mark within 30 days of its release.
