Actor Suchitra Krishnamoorthi and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur tied the knot in 1997, but they eventually parted ways in 2007. The couple has a daughter named Kaveri Kapur, whom they co-parent together. Reportedly Kaveri, who is also a singer, will soon make her acting debut. The actor has now revealed that her daughter, when she was about to leave for college, set her up on a dating app because she thought Suchitra’s life was ‘too sad.’
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Suchitra said, “When she was leaving for college, she felt very bad. She said, ‘Mom, your life is too sad. You can’t be alone because I’ve been so kind of dedicated to her, in a way, my life has revolved, yeah, so she said, “Your life is too sad. You’re going to get very bored when I go, so I better look out. And then she made me promise that ‘as soon as I leave, you can’t, like, you know, delete the app, you have to go’. She made me promise for, I think, 15 dates, but I went on like four or five.”
The actor continued, “And I met some very, very nice people. Met them and some of them I’m still in touch with. Very nice people. For me also, I was like, ‘What am I doing?’ But then I thought, you know, I should open myself. What is the shame? I felt very proud of myself that I could even allow myself to do something like that. Then I promptly deleted the app. I met some very nice people, some of them are my friends now.”
Suchitra had earlier opened up about her divorce and had said that Kaveri was very affected by what happened between her and Shekhar. The Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na actor had also said that Kaveri suffers from childhood trauma.
